"Windows 7+ would have been a better sell."
2.5 starson by raymondfreePros: A faster Windows 7 version, boot time is good, easy upgrade process, simple (metro) user interface. Uses less processing power to run.
Cons: Too simplistic of user interface (boring - it is a pro and a con), customization is limited, apps can not be easily organized, cost of Angry Birds is $4.99, a free app everywhere else. Apps are in their very early stages, and it shows.
Summary: I upgraded my HP Touchsmart laptop on Friday to Win8. I quickly got bored with the new interface. And found it hard to do more complex items (like adding my home server library, working two excel spreadsheets at once, clean my hard drive, etc) without going to the desktop, and current apps feel incomplete, like moving a email message to folder, you don't just drag it, that seems to obvious I guess.
After three days I gave up and added a third party utility to add the start button back. Now I see this upgrade from Vista to Windows 7+ for $40. It makes it feel it is worth it if I look at this way. If I had Win7 and bought Win8, I would likely be a little upset.
What I can not shake is the this feeling. Why do I feel like I just purchased a HTC Pure, with the crappy mobile Windows 6.5 version. (I know they will update, I sure MS will listen, right?)
