Pros: Good for existing users

    Cons: Security/speed/pricing issues

Summary: There is only one thing that is an improvement from the previous versions of Windows. Its Remote desktop connection. Other than that, its the same windows with fancy names, worse outlook and useless heavy graphics that slow down the machine.

    Security:
Microsoft sucks when it comes to security. Every other day they find a hole in the operating system. The original version had several security concerns and then they provided with service pack 2, which really added to the miseries of the user. It made previously stable programs non-functional.

    Speed:
Its firewall made an already slow operating system way too slow. You run your computer for a few days, it gets slower and slower and ultimately you have to reboot the machine.

    Price:
The question is the price that we are paying for this operating system is the right one. The answer obviously is no. There are several useless accessories that are there in the Windows bundle but you would never use them but the price includes everything. Why don't they just provide the bare bone operating system without extra gadgets and with the right price.

XP Professional not only has Remote Desktop by it has more securer features by allowing 'Users And Groups' control. Not only that but you can customize how people log on to the system and even have a message appear giving information at logon.

You need to look a little more, believe me, there are more features than what's said on the box (i.e. go to 'Administritive Tools' in 'Control Panel').

For more details visit http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/evaluation/features.mspx .

Zeato take note XP Professional doesn't support most devices like printers, EVDO, PDA's, DVD players, dialup, etc... Now Microsoft wants more money for another copy of XP home, what do they expect me to do quit my day job and fix XP Professional X64 from the back of my car?

alright um let me say that outlook is the same and outlook is a diff.program and is not included with windows pro. I think you might mean outlook express and its the same thing. And thir is no more graphics in pro then home. Did you ever try home edition? and for a fact not to get ppl confused a firewall does not slow down a computer. And they created professinal so it would connect to a server class operating system. So now you and everyone else knows about ur mistakes.
