Pros: Really Beautiful

    Cons: Memory Eater

Summary: What You See is What You Get, it's beautiful but ... oh my god.. toooo heavy.
I think Windows Vista = Windows Me , they both will not last for one year.
Sayonara Windows Vista, i'll better wait for your next generation.

Windows is a system intesive operating system. Thats the way it is, has always been, and most likely will always be. It is also ridiculously expensive- I can't believe they want $400 for it- and I thought 200 for XP was bad.

So I have decided to ditch Microsoft. Just for the heck of it, I tried Linux (which is actually what I'm using to post this comment. For those of you familiar with linux, I am running Fedora Core 5). It is SOOOO nice to have an operating system that is actually fast and light on system resources. Not to mention it is free as opposed to $400. Recently I have discovered a newer distribution called PCLinuxOS (www.pclinuxos.com), which is the easiest distro of linux yet, and is designed for windows users who are curious about linux and would like to give it a try. You dont even have to install it to try it- it can run from the installation CD (which is what it does by default anyway). And you dont have to get rid of windows on your computer to use it- it is possible to make a dual boot win/linux computer without having to reformat your hard drive. There are programs that will allow you to shrink the existing NTFS partition to make space.

Its Not Windows Me version. Its alot better. I think you people need to take computer classes. And its still in Beta Stages ok. You need at Least 1Gb of ram to run this not 512Mb memory. Bye take care

While I reviewed Vista RC1 on this site, and gave it an eight, my past few weeks with it have been disappointing. The comment on it eating RAM is spot on.... Vista eats RAM for lunch and dinner.

I installed RC1 on a brand new HP Pavilion a1600n, with AMD Athlon X2 processor and a GIG of RAM. While it ran nice, after about a week of use, and the computer nearly always on ... with all windows closed ... it said I was using 700-800MB of RAM. ***.

Sad to say, it really seems that Apple has the right gear of next-generation OS without all the heavy burden on our hardware.
