"Best AP design ever, perfect in any environment"
on by Donders ConsultingPros POE (injector is INCLUDED)
Small and simple in design
Mounts on a single-gang box!
Enterprise features and reliability at a reasonable price
Reliable performance
upgradeable antennas
best overall design I have seen in an access point (by a long shot)Cons I have found "Multi BSSID" setting must be enabled for Dell wireless cards to connect reliably.
Summary Perfect for stealthy installs in homes or fancy offices, no bigger than a doorbell or smoke alarm, and doesn't sacrifice performance. Designed to mount on a single-gang box!! I have a 2000 sqft home and only have to run it at half-power to get full signal in every room. Have installed in much larger offices at full power and standard antennas work great.
Some of the older firmware versions had glitches, but those have been fixed for some time. Firmware upgrades and Setting Backups/Restores are quick and painless.
Unit set for DHCP ootb, so it is easy to get it up and going quickly. Even displays the default username/password on the login page (everyone else please take notes, especially Linksys/Netgear!!)
IT COMES WITH A POE INJECTOR!!! here's a novel idea that Linksys certainly hasn't picked up on. While it IS less wasteful to not include an injector with each AP, most people don't have a POE switch and will need the injector. The frustrating thing is everyone sells these other POE access points and no one sells the damn injectors! So, Linksys benefits from selling a "cheaper" POE AP but then once you open the package, realize there is no injector, order one separately, you've wasted days and another $50. Annoying. Get the 3Com, it's wonderful.
