"Good, But Do Some Research, Not as tempermental as Squeezebox"

Cons: Poor documentation for windows users, Not much help from tech support, No display, no remote
Summary: I am running Windows XP Home and was able to connect AirTunes to my WRT54G after doing a lot of homework. I would recommend that anyone who wants to use this product do two things:
1. Make sure you have the most updated firmware that's out. I am using Sveasoft Satori 4.0, but it also works with HyperWRT.
2. Do a simple google search on AirTunes and WRT54G. You'll be able to find great set-up instructions and troubleshooting. Don't bother with the people at Linksys or Apple. They will keep you on the line forever and not really solve your problems
I have owned a Slim Devices Squeezebox and now AirTunes and I have to say I prefer iTunes. Squeezebox has more and better features for sure, but I have found Airtunes to be more reliable, and since is a wireless G device it won't slow down your network.

I find it hard to believe that Airport Express reliably streams music for you. It would be interesting to hear an updated review after your initial experience since most people in forums I read find that music stutters and stops using Airport Express. Unfortunately, the overwhelming consensus is that it doesn't work for iTunes music streaming. As a result, I bought a Sonos system which does work pretty reliably.

Updating your Linksys with non-Linksys firmware is not necessary. However, you shouldn't follow the Apple directions. Simply plug in the Airport Express with it plugged to your stereo, then open the Airport Admin Utility on your PC. It will wirelessly find your Airport. When it comes up (it may take a minute), change the configuration to make the AE a wireless client by going to the Airport tab and selecting "Join An Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)" as the Wireless Mode. You can then also select security using the button to the right. Finally, push the update button and then wait about one minute for it to restart. That's it!!! I did that and even set it up with WEP encryption without a problem. The WPA setting is available, but I didn't try it out.<br><br>That's a little easier and you don't have to know anything about firmware, WDS, or MAC addresses. Mine works great!!!!
