"Hunk of junk"on by ReluctantApple
Pros The most expensive non-wireless modem ever
Cons What is WITH this thing? Two Apple computers and neither can find the device.
Summary Overheated as much as it is overhyped. Worked two days and quit. ZERO support from Apple -- what a bunch of losers!!
Pros Easy set up; fast; good looking, not that it makes a difference.
Cons None so far
Pros I use this is a mixed environment and have no problems... in fact, we replaced a dlink and linksys after both being a complete nightmare.
Cons None for the average household
Summary Very pleased and when used with airport express, the range is easily extended to meet the most demanding distances.
Pros I've had a Netgear and D-link would always have spotty WIFI on top floor with those, with the Airport i get full connection at all times. Plug and play friendly for novice users.
Cons Only 3 Ethernet ports, not really a huge deal but almost every other router has at least 4, also connecting external harddrive to the USB can be a pain but once you have it working, it works.
Summary It's good if you're willing to sacrifice extra ports for sleek design which anyone buying an apple product probably is.
Pros I have 15 devices connected ranging from Apple products (iPods, AppleTV) to Windows PC/laptop and even PS3 and LG blu-Ray player. All with zero problems or signal drops.
Cons The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the fact that using an external hard drive through the USB port is rather problematic and slow. I had to reformat my WD 1Tb drive to FAT32, but it became extremely slow. I wish it was compatible with NTFS.
Summary I have had numerous routers over the years but this is my first dual band router and what a dream. I have it now for over 12 months and the thing just works, be it for my apple products or my PC. I stream Netflix and vudu to PS3 and LG blu-ray player, absolutely zero drops or in-movie buffering. My windows laptop continuously connects well over 300 Mbps. Yes, I initially was hesitant about the price, but the fact that I run 15 wireless devices without any problem for over 12 months makes it all worth it. I read others complaining about range, but this was one of the reason I bought it, as it's far superior to anything else I ever bought. My PS3 in the basement has a 76% signal strength even though it's 2 floors down.
