Pros Reliability, ease of setup, excellent range, dual band & auto channel adjustments
Cons Get's a little wam and not designed to be placed on its side
Summary Having used and worked with a variety of WiFi routers from different manufactures over the years, I decided to try the Airport Extreme more than a year ago and glad I did.
Other than when I am making adjustments to the settings (or messing them up), this unit has been rock solid and has been 100% problem free.
Linksys, Netgear & D-Link do not even compare to the Airport Extreme.
Another thing I like about this unit is that it requires specific software to access and adjust settings rather than using a web browser for better security. I know a lot of people have written that this is a bad thing, but the software works so much better and adds more security.
Overall I highly recommend this unit, and if you have a large house, office space or need more signal coverage just buy the Airport Express to extend your range.
Pros - Easy Setup with Mac
- Good Looking
- Strong Signals
Cons - Price
- Coverage is equal to other brand routers. Users require more coverage
Summary Best among all existing routers.
Pros This a very simple router to configure and every laptop mac and windows in the house connects flawlessly. The range is excellent and compared to the actiontec router that came with Verizon Fios, coverage is phenomenal. Even my droid connects easily
Cons The only problem with this router is that my ipad wont connect; it shows that its connected to the router but when you click on safari you are warned that safari cannot connect to the internet. Strange that an ipad wont connect to an apple router.
Summary Great router with good coverage but looses a star for not working with an ipad. However, it may be how the ipad works with dual band routers versus the router itself that is causing the problem because everything else from my xbox 360 to my droid connects without hassle.
"Best router!"on by qosmioamit
Pros Dual frequency router, fast data transfer, easy install, supports printing, external HDD, sleek small design
Cons doesn't support scanning on older printers, has 3 ethernet ports (other routers in the market have 4 ports)
Summary Kudos to Apple for creating another masterpiece! The Apple extreme base station is a fast and easy to use setup router. I agree it is faster to install it on a mac than a pc, since the Airport Utility software is built-in in mac. However, the setup procedure doesn't change. Once setup, it is very easy to add guest networks, share printers, or external HDD. It has a wide range too. I am extremely satisfied with my router purchase. Thanks Apple!
Pros Fast, reliable, absolutely NEVER loses its connection or speed. Sleek design and typical Apple good looks!!
Cons Can be a little difficult to configure things like how to set it at getting the highest speeds, be patient. Rather high price is worth it.
