Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station (Winter 2009)

Pros: Good range on both "N" and "G". Have a mix of both PC and Mac's. PC 's do seem to be fickle on range and speed vs Mac's. Not sure why?

Cons: Expensive for features you get, not very customizable which I guess is good for amateurs. USB port not that handy. HP printer works on it. But 2 way information on printer status and Ink levels do not work.

Summary: I bought mine from Apple as a refurbished unit. It has worked very well for 9 months but has recently been showing in logs to be dropping WAN connection to router. Have had technicians check Cable modem and signal with those being fine. I suspect a festering problem with Airport. I had a older Airport that developed a similar issue. I can't say I am impressed with anything but the range which is very good. Besides that the router does not have a lot a customizable features in setup. I am a bit disappointed in the throughput of the router myself. My family is a mix of PC and Mac's. The Mac's seem to have just as much problems connecting at times as the PC's. I have a Macbook Air running Lion and have trouble connecting at times or I get dropped connections. My wife uses a PC laptop from Dell and has low signal issues with it. Although with our Netgear router the Airport replaced her Dell performed much better in Range and throughput. I think this mostly has to do with hardware compatibility Obviously that helps. It really should not, but it does. For what it's worth I like most Apple products but the Airport does not provide the value it use too. I doubt I will buy another and most likely will choose another brand with more flexibility. Especially after only 9 months this model is having issues already.
