"The future of human-computer interface"
5.0 starson by dmk66Pros: -novel user interface (for game consoles)
-kids cant get enough of it (me either!)
-gets you off your keister when playing gamesCons: -need a lot of space to play (relative to controller)
-get tired from jumping around
-not a lot of decent titles available
-limited verbal commands
-cant resolve fingers, only handsSummary: Kinect is a revolutionary user interface for gaming consoles. I have been following this project for quite some time and am glad it has finally come to fruition. Price point is higher than expected but we purchased the 4gb console bundle (I added a 250gb drive also - for $35), which reduces price to $100 for Kinect. We had to move a piece of furniture out of the way to play with two people, make sure you have 6-8 ft in front of your television to play. I anchored the camera on the top of the tv with industrial velcro - could not put below the television because of my front surround sound speaker. I secured the Wii sensor bar on top of the Kinect - hopefully this will work out OK. A lot of reviews harp on the lack of titles available right now, which is true, but the technology is marvelous in my opinion. Controlling Xbox menus and games with your hands and body is amazing. As Steven Spielberg indicated, this is the future of gaming and he is right. Some games you will always need a controller, but this system definitely opens up some amazing opportunities in the future. It is not a perfect system, but this is the start of a new generation of gaming. You will see this type of system used with PCs in the not to distant future.
