Xbox 360 Kinect

Pros: can't say any good points as i can't get it to work

Cons: EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PRODUCT AND MICROSOFT'S LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE. I URGE YOU TO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AS MICROSOFT TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY WHAT SO EVER FOR VERY COMMON TECHNICAL ISSUES KINECT CAUSES.

Summary: WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!! i bought the kinect last week for myself as a birthday present, opened it last night. hooked it up to my pristine original xbox 360 (used literally about 4 weeks in the last 5 years, stored the rest of the time in original factory box) and popped in a brand new dance central disk. nothing. i thought maybe the disk was flawed, opened and put in a brand new your shape. nothing again. only an open disk signal where the games should be listed.
so then i put in the game i had been playing before i tried to install kinect, oblivion, then fable, then sonic (all xbox 360 games, pre-kinect). they all start and work fine. retried the kinect games, the xbox doesn't recognize they are in the drive. called xbox suppory at 11:00 this morning. 6 hours later, 5 flummoxed tech, 2 supervisors, and NOTHING!!! my xbox is working fine (with xbox disks) the kinect is working (captures my image and movements) BUT THE CONSOLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE KINECT GAMES! everyone i spoke with and troubleshooted with at microsoft can't explain the issue - at first they tried to blame my console but after repeatedly playing xbox games they had to admit it was working fine. so it is a compatability issue between xbox and kinect - meaning unless you have a new xbox, the connect doesn't work properly. i'm out money for the games i bought, although i can still return the kinect as i bought it this week. but i am furious at their lack of action - they either need to stop advertising that it works will ALL xboxes or fix the problem (at their own expense) when it doesn't. sure, i can spend $100 to fix my console (which isn't broken), or i can upgrade to a new console (add another $200+) but that is the only solution they will give me. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY - microsoft KNOWS there are issues but isn't interested in fixing them. after searching on the internet today i saw that the bbc has written an article about it, as well as the guardian. not sure why microsoft isn't legally forced to deal with the issue that kinect seems to be destroying and or not working with about 30% of older xboxes, all the while advertising that they do.
