Gears of War (Xbox 360)

Pros: Amazing Graphics, Beautiful Environments, Tense Gameplay, Context Sensitive Controls

Cons: Can be quite difficult for a noob to complete, even on casual difficulty

Summary: This was one of the first games to come out for the Xbox 360, and it truly showcases the graphics processing power of the 360 in ways never seen before. Rarely, if ever have I ever come across such a beautiful gaming experience....experience? yes that's right it's an experience.

GOW is such a gorgeous game I'd classify it as an interactive movie and not really a game. Sure, the plot is not that original, and the lead characters are the stereotypical steroid pumped bodybuilder types that you'd expect to find in a B grade movie....but still this game rocks, and how!

For starters the environments are just gorgeous. The maps are actually not very large but the whole stage has been set in such an original way as to give the impression of vast expanses of battle torn cities and large crumbling buildings. I just love the way everything gives you an impression of a once splendid civilization torn to pieces.

The weapons are great too, even though my only gripe is that they didn't really make them that believable. I mean an assault rifle with an attached chainsaw?? Man, that's just childish. But then they still are pretty cool all said. I especially liked the 'Hammer of Dawn'. That's a real original idea for a weapon, but I won't spoil it for you. Play the game.

The Locust (i.e. the mean nasty aliens)are big ugly mofos who come in various shapes, sizes and flavors. Flying locust, running locust, climb on the walls locust, bust through the walls locust etc. etc. However jokes apart there are some really tense, and some really scary moments in this game. YES I ADMIT IT I WAS SCARED...just a little, when the Beserker was after me.

Pfff well what can I say. Go buy it with your hard earned cash. Rest assured your money won't be wasted. Nuff said!
