"Love Rock Music? Then Buy This Game" on by DylS123

Pros: Guitar sounds are so realistic, Nice polished graphics, Great Career mode, Excellent Song choice

    Cons: No online co-op mode

Summary: By now everyone knows the name Guitar Hero. Some love the game, some hate it, but either way it is truly an awesome game. The first Guitar Hero got everyone by surprise coming out as one of the best games. This one is no different.

This game is by far my favorite music game. The first thing I noticed about the Xbox 360 version is that there are more songs than the PS2 version. I was glad to see most of them, for example The Trooper by Iron Maiden. Other then these new songs the game is very similar to the PS2 version.

For 360 gamers everyone wants to unlock those achievements to know you are doing better than a friend on your list, and this game has plenty of achievements. Some are named after guitar gods like Jimi Hendrix and Dimebag Darrell. These achievements require great skill of Guitar Hero.

Another thing I saw is that there are downloadable songs. All of them being from the first Guitar Hero. Not many too chose from yet but the makers are keeping them coming.

The graphics are a bit polished from the PS2 version and concert places are the same. There is multiplayer and it is very fun and addicting. If you only played Guitar Hero 1 on the PS2 and not the second one you will notice there is now co-op mode you can play with your buddy which is very nice because I have two brothers and we all love this game.

Put all these amazing things I mentioned together and you have yourself Guitar Hero II. This game is a must-have!

"Want to feel like a rockstar!? This will do it!" on by theInterstate

    Pros: Extremely fun, unique gameplay

Cons: no online play, could use some more popular songs, no wireless guitars...

Summary: I hate Guns n' Roses. Hate em. But I cannot stop playing Sweet Child of Mine. The solo sections of that song make you feel like you're actually wailing through it, and there is no better sense of accomplishment than when you finish the section near the end that seems impossible just before swinging into the wailing, longer notes. Now, I am still working my way through on the Medium difficulty (which is much more intense, difficult, and fun than the easy mode). I plugged it in to my 55" HDtv, and I don't sit down when I play. I blast the volume, and I feel like a rockstar. And that song! It's intense! Oh, and the whammy bar! How much fun is that!? Way fun! You earn extra points when you pull it off too.

What I think is really great is that my girlfriend hates video games (except some Wii games and old school NES games), but she can't get enough of this. Last night she absolutely blew the solo on Sweet Child of Mind (yes, I made her play my obsession). I mean, it was terrible. But afterward she wanted another shot at it. So we tried again, and again, she blew it. But now she's obsessed! And she told me how awesome it felt when she almost nailed that solo. She can't wait to actually tear it up... I'm telling you! It's awesome! And since we are at different skill levels, the coop mode allows her to play in easy mode, and me in medium. What a great thing!

Downside is that the guitars are wired via usb ports. The guitar is kind of boring looking (although they provide stickers to add some flair, and you could always add your own personal touch), some of the songs are lame (I'm not a metal head, so some of them are completely new to me, and it's more fun when you know and like the song you are playing... of course, Sweet Child of Mine is that exception for me). The learning curve between difficulty levels takes quite a bit of acclimation, but they did it so on easy you only use three buttons. When you go up to medium you add chords (using two buttons at once) and a fourth button. That fourth button requires movement along the neck, so it really adds to the experience of playing a real guitar. I've only played Hard once, but they add that fifth button, and it ain't easy!! That's probably why they call it hard. The training and practice modes help quite a bit. So really, my only complaints are the lack of popular songs (of course, this complaint could be aimed if all they had were top 20 hits - I'm sick of them enough as it is), no online play (yet), and wired guitars. Guys, your girls might be into this thing. Just make them play Heart Shaped Box, and they will fall in love with it! Just make sure everybody who plays goes through the tutorials... it makes a huge difference in how quickly they can learn the controls, and that always makes a difference of how much they like it.

One thing is for certain. You really gain respect for the musicians who wrote and play(ed) these songs live. Some of them are quite complicated!

"This Game Rocks!" on by Lizmara

Pros: Realistic Guitar, 4 Level Modes, Leaderboards, Song Download Option, Co-op Mode

Cons: It would be nice if you could customize a character to look like you

Summary: I've owned this game since its release on 4/3. My husband and I are business owners in our late twenties/early 30s and we love this game!

This game has 4 levels. Easy, Medium, Hard & Expert. It's best to read all of the advice on playing strategy before attempting the Hard or Expert Levels. The Easy level consists of 3 keys, Medium 4 keys and Hard & Expert use all 5 keys. You can get buy on Easy & Medium without using the practice guides but you'll need to start practicing (like a real band would) in order to pass the Hard & Expert levels. You also need to master the Hand Slide in order to cover all 5 keys at a fast pace.

This game is challenging and great for all skill levels. Its fun to see the leaderboards and where your friends are against your high scores. The acheivements are also easy fun to collect but I'm still scratching my head on how to collect 300k, 400k and 500k points on any song!

The Co-op Mode is brilliant! We haven't personally used it yet but I've seen how it works. I'm probably going to buy another guitar so we can both play at the same time and rock-on like a real band. Of course, I'm going to close all the shades & blinds so the neighbors don't see us ;)

    Pros: Great music, downloadable content

Cons: Wired controller, controller smaller than that of ps2

Summary: Ok, i just got this game last night when it realease so havent had much time to play it. What i did play tho was great. Very fun game that gets you away from the traditional controls and gameplay of any system. Will be looking for guitar hero 3 and rock band.
