"Best FPS Game"on by bmmayhew
Pros Solo campaign, online play, story line
Cons Not enough new weapons
Summary The second installment of Halo did not disappoint, in fact, it reinvigorated the strong storyline of the original and added an outstanding multiplayer feature to boot. Great graphics, great story, and slick gameplay are components of this great FPS. The solo campaign is split into two distinct stories, which was at first awkward but ultimately a great new feature. Additionally, the multi-player is AWESOME!! You haven't REALLY played Halo until you've played XBL.
The only con to speak of is the weapon selection. I'm still distraught by the fact that in 550 years our military will still use the same shotgun and sniper rifle that we use today. No wonder we're being invaded by the Convenant!! To off-set the human weapons, Bungie offers new Covenant weapons such as the Brute gun (grenade launcher with a scythe bayonet for melee) and a Covenant sniper rifle. These additions only slightly make up for the lack of ingenuity on the part of our future human military.
Pros Graphics, Gameplay, Process in making the game, Duel Weilding, Xbox Live!, Multiplayer Map Layout, and the ending of the game is amazing!
Cons As far as I can tell, none, aside from people modding online.
Summary Ok, I'm gonna make this short and sweet. This is more for the people who don't understand everything that went into the game and all of the undertoes that went into the storyline.
First off, the graphics were far beyond any other game that came out for its time, as well as Halo: Combat Evolved. Gameplay is just as spectacular in both single and multiplayer games. Single player (and probably the most hated part of Halo 2) is just another chapter in the book. For those of you who haven't played the first of the Halo Trilogy, you'll be bored and not into the game. For those of us who have played Halo 1 understand and are very excited to play the next level in order to find out exactly what's going to happen next. Playing the first game will help all of those who are upset with the storyline. If you play and enjoy another sort of FPS and can't stand the idea of Halo, then the game is obviously not for you. Comparing this and Counter Strike is just not exceptable. These two game are based more than 1000 years apart as far as storyline goes!
Multiplayer is the part in Halo 2 that really shines. Some say that the maps are too small. I agree that some maps are very confined and hard to manuver. However, you must think of why they were designed that way. They weren't just gonna put maps together and hoped they worked. They are all there for tactical reasons, the good and the bad. Notice in the small maps, that there are two or more ways to reach any one area. This is because Bungie decided that they want people to constantly move, or else they would get trapped and die quickly. This also brings me to weapon layout in the maps. Everything is perfect, there is a weapon in just the right places, lets say you find a sniper. It will never be in a small room. This is becuase bungie wanted to make all power weapons vunerable to attack as well as letting the player apply the weapon he/she has just picked up as quickly as possible. Duel weilding explains itself as it is very hard to find in FPSs or any other game as a matter of fact. All weapons were carefully balanced and had their own accuracy and affectiveness against certain things.
To top things off with Halo 2, Xbox live 'matchmaking' is the BEST for this game. I have yet to find a better matchmaking game or even a better rating system. There is no wonder Halo 2 and Halo 1 have been at the top of the charts years past their release date.
