SMC firmware update 1.0 (#3): More issues fixed
Readers continue to note improvements brought about by the SMC firmware update 1.0 for Intel-based macs.
Mark Mason reports that a Mac mini booting issue was resolved by the update. He writes:
"Finally! For months, I have been going bonkers attempting to troubleshoot persistent, intermittent failure of an Intel Mac Mini to boot. Was it hardware? Was it the OS, Was it a bad FireWire peripheral---nothing could reproduce it consistently and nothing seemed to fix it--until today. The SMC Firmware Update."
Kjelle Hofer echoes earlier reports of lower MacBook Pro surface temperatures. He writes:
"Download and install went perfect. My 15" 2.0GHz MacBook Pro seems to have dropped in temperature, it's not so very hot anymore - just warm on the left side by the power connector. I hoped there would be some effect on the fizzing sound as well but I'm in a 'noisy' environment at the moment so I'm not able to judge on this, will do tonight at home."
