Definitive Technology W Studio sound bar offers great sound at a luxury price

If you recently bought an expensive TV, then you probably want something to listen to it with.
While you can buy a very good sound bar for $350, there are benefits to paying more.
I'm Ty Pendlebury, and this is the Definitive Technology W Studio sound bar.
And at $1300, it's definitely priced above most [UNKNOWN].
But apart from the build which is exemplary and includes this heavy machined aluminum caps.
It comes with a number of features that help it stand out.
First off is the real remote.
While next is the three HDMI inputs.
And the inclusion of the playfi wireless music standard.
DTS, the inventor of Play-Fi, is positioning it's wi-fi standard as the potential successor to bluetooth in the home.
As it simply sounds better, and doesn't have the connectivity issues.
To further ram home this point, the WCU doesn't even have bluetooth.
And when you use the combination of the PC app and the definitive app, you probably even won't miss it that much.
Sound quality, though is why you buy a unit like this, and this is simply the best sound bar I've probably ever heard.
The clarity of music and dialogue is remarkable, and not subject to the nasal-ness or boxy-ness that plagues most sound boxes.
But it's the separate [UNKNOWN] sub that is really the star here.
Despite its relatively modest size, it's able to go deeper than most of these types of products, and in an effortless way.
It's great with music in particular.
The play-fi music standard is pretty good, and easily as reliable as a sonar system now.
Though it probably won't be the reason most people buy a sound bar this expensive.
My only reservation is the [UNKNOWN] surround effect.
It appears to be active on play fi music even when turned all the way off.
Though hopefully this is something that can be fixed in future.
Overall, this is a great looking and sounding sound box that is actually worth the money you pay for it.
However, if you're not after a simple plug and play solution, and want to get your hands a little dirty, a receiver and speakers will give it a run for its money.
