DJI brings its aerial cameras down to earth with Osmo

DJI might be best known for it's quadcopters for aerial photography, but it's now trying to get attention for the camera and gimbal systems it's been developing for those drones.
To help with that mission is DJI's Osmo.
It uses a similar camera and gimbal system to what is found on the company's Inspire 1 drone, and can be used with that camera and the company's new Micro Four Thirds Zenmuse X5 camera.
This single piece system attaches to the hand grip and turns it into a 4K resolution video camera with three access stabilization.
Attach an iOS or Android device and use DJI's GO app to see what you're shooting, and control the camera and change settings.
Along with video at resolutions up to 4K and slow motion video, the camera takes 12 megapixel stills.
Time lapse and interval shooting.
And it does high resolution handheld panoramas all by itself.
There are direct controls on the handle for recording video and stills, and for panning and tilting the camera.
And since the camera itself doesn't have a mike, there's one built in, or you can use your own.
Which is good, since the on board one does pick up some of the motor noise from the gimble in quiet Seams.
And in the handle, you'll find the battery, which is good for about 60 minutes of recording.
Pricing hasn't been set yet, but it's expected to be around $600 to $800.
