Eizo ColorEdge CG222W
>> Hi, morning, this is Eric Franklin from CNET.com. And today, we're talking very serious business. We're taking a look at the Eizo ColorEdge CG222W. This thing is no joke. It's a 22-inch monitor, tailored from a very serious high-end graphics work. And even more serious, digital photography. And as a seriously heavy weight at 24 pounds, and at that weight, at least you won't have to worry about it wobbling or toppling over when pushed from the sides. It includes four-way ergonomic control, including height adjustment, 25-year swivel, left and right, 90-degree pivoting, and about a 40-degree backwards tilt. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 16:80 by 10:50 resolution, 178 degree viewing angle, 800 to 1 contrast ratio, dual DVI inputs, and Adobe RGB color gamut of 92%, and 200 candelas per meter square brightness. Taking a look at this thing anecdotally, I see that it pretty much stands up to the [inaudible] claim, at least. Although things get a lot blurrier than I expected when I look at it from extreme angles. More so than the Dell Ultrasharp 2408 WFP, at least. Also, the pivot software it comes with is not actually compatible with this display. So when you pivot at 90 degrees, the picture doesn't actually adjust. Very frustrating. Movies look fine on it in what limited capacity we looked at them. But this monitor isn't really built for movies, necessarily. And let me stress that we have not actually officially tested this monitor yet. So these initial impressions could change. Along with all this serious business comes a seriously high price, at least compared to normal, not so serious monitors. The Eizo is available now for as low as 1,300 bucks from E-tailers. At that price, I feel I really need to take my time with this review. So expect it within a few weeks. Or depending on when your viewing this vid, it could be up right now. Such is the power I have over speed in time. Once again, this is Eric Franklin. This has been the first look at the Eizo ColorEdge CG222W.
