How is Apex Legends different from Fortnite and PUBG?
[SOUND]
Surprise!
EA just launched Apex Legends, a free-to-play battle royale that's hoping to go toe-to-toe with the likes of games like PUBG, Call of Duty.
Duty Black Ops, Blackout mode.
And of course, the reigning genre champion, Fortnite.
If you aren't sure if you wanna check out Apex Legends, here are three ways it sets itself apart from its competition.
One, less enemies.
Other battle royale games use a system that drops 100 players into a map.
Apex Legends on the other hand forces you into 3 person squads but only loads 20 teams into a map.
You'll find yourself getting into the action slightly later than 1 v 100 battle royales, giving you plenty of time to group up, loot some gear and get ready for the fight.
If you die, you might not have to sit out the rest of the game either.
Your team can resurrect you.
Two, heroes, instead of building your own personal protagonist, Aphex Legends has a fixed list of heroes called, what else, legends.
Each on has their own tactical specialty, abilities and ultimate You can only one of each hero per squad, making team composition a key part of your strategy.
It's also a great way to encourage learning more than one legend, so you're also ready to help the team, no matter who picks Which hero.
Three, the ping system.
Apex Legends has an incredibly intuitive nonverbal communication system that lets you quickly tell your squad what you're looking at or doing while you comb the map.
If you call out a weapon or other item A marker shows up and sound goes off revealing its location to your teammates.
If there's an enemy sighted, they show up too.
Don't get us wrong, if you're playing with friends, you'll probably enjoy using voice chat alongside the [UNKNOWN] system.
But if you're alone and unable to or simply not interested in using voice coms system is an excellent way to get vital information To your team mates.
And for anyone like me who played Fortnite but couldn't get in to it because you felt like a construction worker holding a rifle, there's no frantic building in this game.
So far we are really enjoying Apex Legends.
It feels like Respawn took a lot of notes on its competition, picking out what they felt each game does great, and then adding or changing what they thought was missing.
It's a fun, strategic battle royale.
And we're looking forward to how it expands its reach.
See you in the Outlands.
