iPad your car: Rear seat

Computing
-Hi! I'm Wayne Cunningham with CNET and I'm gonna show you how to mount an iPad in the back of this car. An iPad works great as a rear entertainment device and it cost a lot less than factory systems. Of course, it has video, music, all the things while you're on a road trip. Now, if you search around online, you can find a lot of mounting solutions. I've chosen two from a company called Scosche, which makes a lot of different aftermarket car parts. First of all, we have the backSTAGE. This is a 40-dollar soft case. It's kinda on the cheapy solution. It's got this Velcro strap on the back, which you would wrap around on the headrest post on the front seats, so this is facing the back. First of all, you would mount it on there then you just slide the iPad into the sleeve and there you got rear seat entertainment. When you park or put the car up for the night you just pull the iPad back out so it's safe. Now, I've chosen a more robust solution. This bracket is the backSTAGE Pro. Now, this is also made by Scosche and it's really meant for sort of a permanent mount in the car. You have this mounting bracket. This also attaches to the headrest post and you have the sleeve, which holds the iPad. Now, once you have the iPad in place and everything put together, you just slide this on. So, first of all, we're gonna install the mounting bracket on the headrest. Mounting the backSTAGE Pro's bracket into place is pretty easy, but you wanna make sure the Scosche label here is right side up. Now, all you do is from the front push back underneath the headrest. It slides into place as is the bar that's in front and it's got these two clips with bolts on them. You'll kind of put into place here and then you got to tighten 'em up and they'll give you an Allen wrench to tighten 'em down once you get them into place. I'll just tighten this down on this side and work around the other side. You'll get this clip into place and use Allen wrench to tighten this side down too. So now, once you have this bracket, firmly mount it into place. You take the iPad sleeve and slide it on to the mounting part. It fits right there, clips into place, and there it is. And it will even tilt up a little bit to make a better viewing area. Now, it is in place. Just grab your iPad and you can slide it in the side here. The backSTAGE Pro even has an iPad port so you can use the button on the casing here to turn it on or off. So now my iPad is set in place, I could sit here and watch movies and listen to music as I ride along. The backSTAGE Pro also comes with this adaptor for the car and it has got a convenient port in this mounting bracket here so I can just plug it into there and then run this cord, maybe hide it around the car somewhere into a 12-volt outlet and that's how you can mount an iPad in the back of your car for rear seat entertainment.
