L'Oréal's high-tech lipstick dispenser gets a luxe makeover with YSL

Personal Care
Why being limited to one lipstick, when you can have infinite colors, [MUSIC] That's the idea behind the L'Oreal purser, a high-tech lipstick dispenser that lets you mix together your own shades, match your color to photos you find online or in magazines And change out your makeup whenever you want. L'Oreal is launching the persona alongside French fashion, and beauty house Yves Saint Laurent. It's called the Yves Saint Laurent masseur powered by Person. MI really should have stuck with those French lessons. You load the device with three lipstick cartridges, and then you use an app to choose your own shade. The machine dispenses a set amount of each cartridge to create the shade you want. The accompanying app lets you choose your ideal shade from a color wheel or even snap a photo in a magazine and use an eyedropper tool to select the color you want from the picture. You can also get a shade recommendation based on things like your clothes and hair color. The L'Oral Technology Incubator debuted this device with a prototype at CES 2020, and I got to try it out. It was actually pretty cool to see it in action. I got to play around with choosing different cartridges and then selecting the shade I wanted used in the App. I could also use the camera on my phone to map lipstick shades on my face in real time. Kind of like a Snapchat filter. The coolest part was when I chosen my color and tap to dispense it. You could see the individual cartridges extruding the liquid lipstick through the top of the machine to match the color I chosen. At last year's CES L'Oreal also showed off a personal device that replaced the lipstick cartridges with skin care creams so I could mix and match my own beauty serums and makeup, With the one device, I'm just gonna stop the tape there and give my pre COVID self a warning. If you're going to a crowded show Hall, maybe don't touch a device that literally hundreds of people have touched before you and then rub your face. Okay, let's continue Ces is often a show that serves up weird and wacky new gadgets that never see the light of day. But it's cool to see one of our favorite products from 2020 actually make it to a consumer release this year. There's no doubt this device is definitely being pitched as a luxury product for Eve Celeron fans or people who just really want to spend money on their beauty regime. The matte black device is finished with a quilted leather top with the YSL monogram designed to match the fashion houses leather bags. And just like one of those bags, yes I have coveted one for years now. The perso doesn't come cheap. The Yves Santa roll rush so matcha powered by perso is going on limited pre sale for $299 You can sign up on the YSL beauty website and the device is set to ship in spring 2021. But if you're like me and you can never choose what color to wear, then this might just be the device for you. Finally, you'll be able to have all of them [MUSIC]
