$499 Nest Secure is a basic DIY Home Security system with a couple of stand out features.
The Nest Guard is the brains of your secure system.
It has an integrated keypad and alarm off, home and guarding, and away and guarding buttons.
Press the speech bubble at the bottom of the hub to get status alerts, thanks to a built in speaker A separate button just above the power cable on the back will turn on the Secure's 85 decibel siren.
It has battery backup and optional cellular backup for an additional fee.
Set the Secure hub near an entrance, so you can quickly, easily enter your pin code, but if you're anything like me, and I know I am, you don't want to deal with a six digit pin code, so instead just take a nest tag, tap it over the front of your secure hub for quick arming and disarming.
Keep a tag on your key Keychain.
Give one to your kid.
Buy extras for 25 bucks each.
And easily remove access to any tag that gets lost through the Nest app.
Attach Nest detect sensors to doors and windows to monitor when they're opened.
Or stick one on a wall to act as a motion sensor.
They also have something called quiet open.
So you can temporarily disable one [UNKNOWN] sensor to let the dog out at three AM, or to go for an early morning run without having to disarm the entire system.
Use the Nest app to adjust settings, and to add Nest cans to use along side the secure system.
It's a pricy starter kit, no question, but Nest's Secure has some hidden tricks that make it less annoying to use than other home systems.
I don't think everyone should be rushing out to buy it, but folks looking for a simple system to use with other nest products will be happy with secure.
