Nook GlowLight: Barnes & Noble's next-gen e-reader challenges Amazon's Kindle PaperWhite
Hi.
I'm David Carnoy and I'm here with Barnes and Noble's new E-Ink reader, the Nook GlowLight.
Yes, Barnes and Noble has done a way for simple touch name just going with Nook GlowLight.
This is a similar shaped e-reader to its previous model but obviously it has a different color.
It is kind of an off white.
It's a nice textured feel to its back so it feels good in your hand and it is a little bit lighter than the Kindle Paperwhite with 86.2 ounces, so nice
light e-reader and to promote that lightness, Barnes and Noble is awesome [unk] selling not full on cases for this but actually stream covers at a very light.
A little bit pricey of $2,999 but they will be available at launch in three different colors.
[unk] important specs here this does have an 800 MHz processor as opposed to the Kindle Paperwhite with 1 GHz processor over this does have 4 gigabytes of internal memory as oppose to 2 gigabytes with the Paperwhite has.
One of the biggest improvements here is
the GlowLight itself.
On the old model, there was a little bit of murkiness, a little bit of cloudiness especially when you had it in the dark and you cranked up the brightness this model definitely has more even lighting scheme so that is a definite improvement.
It's also a brighter GlowLight and just looks better overall.
Although this does have a slower process in the Kindle Paperwhite, I still feel zippy and when the important things that Barnes and Noble has done has limited the flashing.
You know, they're no longer those jarring page refreshes so the flashing
has been eliminated, which is nice.
As far as battery life goes, this does match the Kindle Paperwhite's 2 months of battery life with the Wi-Fi off and the price is the same at $119 over this model.
It doesn't have ads or special offers as Amazon calls them on its device.
This is an ad-free device.
So there it is the new Nook GlowLight, an improved Nook GlowLight.
A little bit lighter device than the Kindle Paperwhite and nice e-reader.
I'm David Carnoy.
Thanks
for watching.
