Plantronics Savor M1100
-I'm Nicole Lee, senior associate editor, for cnet.com and this is a first look at Plantronics Savor M1100.
It is a brand-new headset from Plantronics.
It is a small little headset as you can see here.
It's a nice V frame structure design.
On the front here are three microphones that is reported to help with the noise reduction quality.
On the front here is also a multifunction call button on the top and a voice command button in the middle here.
On the top is a micro USB charging port.
On the back is the rubberized ear gel.
The ear gel has a little bit of a loop around here so that you can wear it without an ear hook.
On the side here is the power switch.
On the other side is a single-volume button that also acts as the call mute button.
The Savor M1100 has the usual bluetooth headset features of course like answering, ending, and rejecting calls.
It also has A2DP streaming functionality so you can stream your music on here.
You also get multipoint functionality as well as call, mute, and last number redial.
An interesting feature of the Savor M1100 is that it also comes with built-in access to the Plantronics Vocalyst automated phone service.
You need to register the headset on the Vocalyst website before using the service.
All you have to do is tap the voice recognition button here.
Say "call Vocalyst" and your phone will dial the Vocalyst number.
You get 1 year's free access to the basic service with the purchase of the headset.
This lets you hear updates on a variety of things like weather, sport scores, news feeds, and so far.
Simply say "sports" or "weather" to access them.
You can also set-up reminders on Evernote, listen to incoming e-mails and tweets.
As for sending e-mails and tweets, the basic version will let you record your voice, upload it to the Plantronics server and send a link to the audio file in e-mail or message.
The Pro Service also lets you dictate messages, to do list, and you can even post blog entries to Blogger, Wordpress, Tumblr, and so forth.
You can upgrade to the Pro Service for $3.50 a month or $35 a year.
The basic level of the Vocalyst service is free for the first year purchase of the headset.
Every year thereafter, however, it will cost $2.49 a month or $24.99 a year.
We like having these services, but we probably wouldn't pay extra for them.
As far as song quality, it's really good.
Really good noise cancelling and really good audio quality as well.
The Plantronics Savor M1100 is $99.
