What's up, Prizefight fans?
I'm Brian Tong and we have another blockbuster battle for you.
It's a prizefight punchout between the Samsung Fascinate and the Motorola Droid X.
Our judges for this fight, our senior editor Bonnie "Boom Boom" Cha, senior editor Kent "The K.O.
King" German, and you-know-who, "Take Down" Tong.
Now, we'll take all three judges blind scores and average them out to the nearest tenth each round.
The final Prizefight score will be an average of all rounds using the same decimal system.
Get ready for a slobber knocker.
First round is sexiness.
The Samsung Fascinate will immediately impress you with its expansive 4-inch AMOLED screen and its slim smooth body with curved corners that might make you forget it's just a phone.
This has sexy written all over it.
Now, the Droid X brings a 4.3-inch screen but its design is more boxy.
It's size can make it a little more awkward to hold and it has some extra junk in the trunk sticking out.
The Fascinate gets things started with a perfect 5 and the Droid X gets a 4.
Next round is controls and user interface.
The Fascinate is a super responsive all touchscreen phone with its TouchWiz interface and snappy animations.
It's a more simplified OS which makes the phone easier to use and we like how its apps are arranged in panels.
The Droid X brings a combination of touch controls and physical buttons and you know our judges like that.
The Droid's version of Android isn't too intrusive and it was just as responsive as well.
We're calling this round even at 4.3 points a piece, and after averaging two rounds, the Samsung leads by half a point.
Round three is features.
Both phones are jam-packed with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and mobile hotspot capability.
The Fascinate is locked into Bing as its exclusive search method.
You can't change it and people like us find that kind of annoying.
On the good side, the notifications bar has access to key services at any time.
You also have the Swype keyboard software built in,
a 5-megapixel camera, and its own task manager app.
The Droid X is the Android experience that I'm used to and it's rocking the latest with Froyo.
It has an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash on board and an HDMI out port for more versatility.
The Droid X takes its first round with a 4.7, and the Fascinate gets a 4.
Next round is web browsing and multimedia.
The Fascinate might have a 5-megapixel camera but we found that the image quality and colors were better than the Droid X.
It also comes loaded with a variety of shooting methods to play with, web pages and video files looked great on its screen, plus Samsung also has their media hub video store coming soon.
The Droid X brings Flash 10.1 support with mixed results.
Pictures from its camera seemed a little more washed out even if they are higher res shots.
Having the HDMI port adds to the experience and its larger screen does have a little more impact when surfing the web or watching videos, but it wasn't enough to sway our judges.
Samsung takes this round with a 4.7,
and Motorola gets a 4.3.
So after averaging four rounds, the Fascinate leads by only two-tenths of a point, and this is anyone's prizefight.
The final round that decides it all is call quality and performance.
Both handsets are fast and you really can't feel a difference between the two with their zippy performance.
Call quality was quite good and impressive on both phones.
The Fascinate had a few pops at the end of words, and the Droid X sounded slightly hollow or muted, but, overall, these phones sound great.
The Fascinate just gets the edge with a 4 and the Droid X gets a 3.7.
So let's average out all five rounds and in a prizefight where Samsung took the early lead, the Droid X closed the gap but it just wasn't enough and the Samsung Fascinate takes this battle 4.4 to 4.2 and is your Prizefight winner.
Now, you really can't lose if you're on Verizon and you have to pick between these two phones, but it's Samsung's Fascinate that rules the ring today.
