I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor with CNET, and this a look at the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX7V.
So, what you should know about the HX7V is that it's a compact mega zoom with an ultra wide-angle lens with a 10x zoom, which allows a lot of framing flexibility while still being pretty compact.
It also has a 16-megapixel EXMOR-R sensor
for faster shooting performance and better low-light photos.
Now, that sensor also allows it to do some pretty cool things like take high resolution panorama photos by sweeping the camera, shooting full HD movie clips, and taking shots with the Defocus background simulating a shallow depth of field.
They are all viewable on this really nice 3-inch high-resolution LCD.
Oh and it has a built-in GPS receiver too for geotagging your shots,
so that's all fun and I have no real complaints about its photos or shooting performance either.
I mean, the photos are somewhat soft when viewed at larger sizes.
And although its speed is excellent for a point and shoot, it doesn't mean it's going to be perfect for shooting active kids and pets.
Still, considering all the fun features and its capabilities, it's a pretty great camera.
