[MUSIC]
Hulu is best known for its huge library of on-demand TV shows and originally series, like The Handmaid's Tale.
But today, it's adding something new.
Live TV streaming.
For $40 a month, you can also watch more than 50 live TV channels, including local networks ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC in select cities As well as cable faves like ESPN, CNN, TNT, Bravo, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Lifetime, The Disney Channel, and more.
That price also includes all of Hulu's on demand programs as well as a cloud DVR.
Today live TV's available on select devices, namely Android phones and tablets, Apple iPhones and iPad, and TV devices like XBox One, Apple TV, and Chromecast.
Hulu says more devices are coming soon.
If you're familiar with the original Hulu app on these devices the new one will look different, and blends live TV and on-demand seamlessly.
The new homepage offers a bunch of browse options.
lineup is a list of shows that Hulu thinks you wanna watch based on your preferences,a nd includes Original series as well.
Keep Watching let's you resume previous shows while My Channels lists what's live now among your list of favorites.
Other genres are listed too along with [INAUDIBLE] collections like Dark Futures While you're watching a show, you can pause, rewind or start over, or add it to your cloud DVR, which lets you store up to 50 hours of shows.
One downside, however, is that you can't skip commercials on recorded shows.
To do that, you need to pay another 15 bucks a month for the enhanced cloud DVR, which also stores up to 200 hours.
If you're on the home page, my stuff gathers your shows, both live and on-demand in one place and allows you to manage recorded shows.
You can also select your favorite sports teams and Hulu will record upcoming games automatically, provided they're on a channel it receives.
Search and browse are supported too.
And like Netflix and Playstation Vue, Hulu supports family member profiles, up to six.
The base $40 package lets you stream up to two shows at the same time and you can pay extra for unlimited streams.
Overall, Hulu Live TV looks like another good option for people to cut the cable cord, although it is relatively expensive.
It's definitely worth a free trial, however, especially for current Hulu subscribers.
