>> Hey everyone, I'm Jeff Bacalore [assumed spelling] for cnet.com. Today we're gonna have a first look at Wii Fit from Nintendo. The basic idea behind Wii Fit is for you to become more aware of your own body. Using the balance board that's included with the package, it measures your weight, and gives you your BMI, which is your body mass index. The whole point of Wii Fit is for you to manage your BMI using the exercises embedded in the software. Over time you gradually lower your BMI, and that's basically the entire point of the game. The initial setup for Wii Fit is very easy. You just sync the balance board to the Wii, and you'll go through an introductory setup mode, where it's gonna weigh you, give you your initial BMI. The software will use your me that's on your Wii console, and in my case it made it a lot fatter. Now inside the game are various amounts of exercises. You have yoga, aerobic exercises, and balance games. Once you complete an exercise for the day, you'll get a stamp on the calendar, and you'll be able to track your progress over a long period of time. When you first try Wii Fit, it's gonna feel a little weird. It took us a few minutes to really get used to the idea of the balance board. It's really sensitive, so getting used to the fact that it can pretty much measure the slightest degree of movement takes a little getting used to. You start out with really easy exercises, but as you earn Wii Fit credits, you're able to unlock more and more complex exercises. We really enjoyed the balance games. There's a few games that are really fun to play using the board. You're basically using your body as the controller for the game, so that's a lot of fun. We really like the soccer exercise, it's where you use your balance to basically head butt soccer balls out of the way. Overall Wii Fit's probably not gonna have you dropping pounds left and right. It does allow you to do exercises, you will feel somewhat of an aerobic workout if you really stick to it and follow all of the exercises carefully. However, it might not be your one stop solution for a complete workout. But for ninety dollars it might be worth a shot.
